HARVEY MILK HIGH SCHOOL PLAYWRITING CLASS
Christianne is thrilled to take part in this adventure.
Performing scenes from plays and monologues written by the playwriting students at the Harvey Milk High School, a small NYC public charter school for "at risk" students, including members of the LBGTQ community. There will be material written by over twenty different students from three grade levels. The ten performers doing these scenes are professional actors who work on and off Broadway, in regional theatre and in television and film. They volunteer their time twice a year to educate the students as to how working with professional actors and directors can enhance their work and challenge them as writers
The playwriting class is taught by award-winning playwright and screenwriter Martin Casella (THE IRISH CURSE, SCITUATE, PLAY IT COOL). The playwriting class, the playwriting presentation and several scholarships given out every year to graduating HMHS students are sponsored by Bruce Robert Harris and Jack Batman of GAYFESTNYC.
